We are working with a fast-growing logistics and operations business with a turnover of approximately £20 million, based in Skelmersdale. With a strong reputation for efficiency and service, we are now looking for a commercially-minded Financial Controller to join the leadership team and help drive the next phase of growth.
Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with senior leaders, the Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations. You will deliver clear financial insight, ensure compliance, and support the strategic direction of the business.
Salary:
£70-80,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all day-to-day financial operations and accounting processes.
- Manage and optimise the company's treasury function, including cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and liquidity management.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to the Managing Director and board.
- Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and year-end statutory accounts.
- Support strategic decision-making with robust financial analysis and insight.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements across the finance function.
- Manage and develop a team of three direct reports: two Management Accountants and one Credit Control Manager.
- Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and other external stakeholders as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar financial leadership role, preferably within logistics or transport.
- Strong knowledge of treasury management and financial controls.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence at all levels.
- Confident team leader with a track record of mentoring and developing finance staff.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
